I’d like to share a wild, scary, frustrating, and amazing week I had recently.
I went upstate for the weekend – without my computer. I was expecting to be back home by Monday… and my car broke down Sunday.
Acura neglected to secure numerous bolts in my car after taking the engine out for a big recall service. Much of the oil leaked out, my car seized, something burned …
In the fray of trying to figure out all this car and work stuff, and how to get home, I’ve looked for blessings, including those not apparent at first glance.
Beyond the wonderful, obvious gift of more time with my daughter, son-in-law, and granddogs, there have been other gifts. I’d like to share two now:
I ended up going to a workshop upstate the following Saturday and Sunday. I’d thought about going to this workshop before, but it was never convenient…for decades. I will share more about it in another post but the timing was perfect, not only because I was 15 minutes away, but because of the subject and the people there.
The workshop went deep into Embracing Life, Perspectives on Death, subjects I’m thinking about a lot with my health challenges, the loss of one of my dogs last month, and the forward I’m writing for a book with powerful teachers, coaches, and entrepreneurs… including Temple Grandin!
Being off the computer, doing my sessions, and engaged in deep thought and conversations, I felt like my body, the core of my being, was re-wiring and recalibrating (along with some wild experiences).
It has been more than the words “The Universe has your back.” “Life happens for you not to you.”
This felt orchestrated, positioned, and created, both in the events of that week and my reaction to them.
I was scared but safe. It happened not on a winding road, late at night, by myself, going 70, but going slow, in the afternoon, with my daughter, near her home.
And, I would have likely missed the gifts, the growth, the learning, new relationships, the blessings if I hadn’t consciously decided to look more deeply, not just for the silver lining, but for the gold being offered.
I’d love it if you’d message me and share gold you’ve mined through any of your life experiences!

P.S. Being marooned upstate also led to me meeting a woman who helped me on my journey to my new puppy!
